For a move of several hundred kilometres, the price and the delivery date depend on two choices: a truck for you alone or a shared truck, and how the trip fits the driver’s legal hours at the wheel. This page gives the figures for the main routes from Paris. We move within France only.
Main routes from Paris
Distances are by road, from our base in Courbevoie to the town hall of each city. Driving times are for a moving truck, which is slower than a car, breaks excluded. Delivery times assume a dedicated truck with one driver, loaded in Paris between 8 am and noon.
| Destination | Distance | Driving time | Delivery after a morning loading |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lille | 221 km | 3 h 02 | Same day, afternoon |
| Rennes | 350 km | 5 h | Next morning |
| Nantes | 382 km | 5 h 22 | Next morning |
| La Rochelle | 472 km | 6 h 36 | Next morning |
| Lyon | 474 km | 6 h 32 | Next morning |
| Strasbourg | 507 km | 6 h 52 | Next morning |
| Bordeaux | 585 km | 8 h 01 | Next morning |
| Toulouse | 679 km | 9 h 43 | Next day, late morning |
| Montpellier | 751 km | 10 h 17 | Next day, late morning |
| Marseille | 782 km | 10 h 37 | Next day, around midday |
| Nice | 940 km | 12 h 47 | Next day, afternoon |
For Rennes, Nantes, La Rochelle, Lyon and Strasbourg, the truck reaches the city on the evening of the loading day and unloads the next morning, because unloading a whole flat takes a few hours. If the truck sets off only on the morning after loading, Lyon, Bordeaux and Nantes are still delivered on the day it sets off. Toulouse, Montpellier, Marseille and Nice then take one more day. Your quote states the loading and delivery dates.
Driving limits and delivery times
We plan every long trip with the driving and rest times set for professional drivers:
- a 45-minute break after 4 hours 30 of driving;
- no more than 9 hours of driving in a day;
- at least 11 hours of rest between two working days.
Take Nice, 940 km away. The truck is loaded in Paris in the morning and leaves at 12.45 pm. The driver takes a break at about 5 pm, drives on until 8 pm and rests for the night. The next day, driving starts again at 8 am, with one more break, and the truck arrives around 3 pm. Unloading follows the same afternoon.
Dedicated truck or shared truck
| Dedicated truck | Shared truck (groupage) | |
|---|---|---|
| In the truck | Your belongings only | Belongings of several customers going the same way |
| Dates | Loading and delivery dates fixed with you | A loading date, then a delivery window |
| Route | Direct | Several stops along the way |
| Suits | A full flat or house, an office, a fixed date | A studio, a few pieces of furniture, flexible dates |
| Price | Volume, service level and full distance | The cost of the trip is shared between customers |
A shared truck costs less because several customers pay for the same trip. In return, you accept dates set around the other moves on board. It works well for students, for a studio or for a few items such as a sofa and some boxes.
What a long-distance move costs
The price list is the same as for a move within Paris: the volume at the rate of your service level, shown on our moving prices page, plus the distance. Access costs apply at both ends: €30 per floor without a lift, €250 per furniture lift (half a day) and €120 for a courtyard to cross, all excluding VAT. An extra stop on the way costs €200 excl. VAT. For a shared truck, we quote each move from its volume and its dates. Enter your details on the quote page for your price.
Preparing a long-distance move
- Book two to four weeks ahead, earlier for a summer move.
- Plan parking at both ends. In Paris, the parking permit is requested at least 15 days before. In the destination city, the town hall sets its own rules. With the Standard and Comfort services, we make both applications.
- Keep with you everything you need for the first night, since the truck may arrive the next day.
- Fill in the declaration of value sent with your quote. Cover is included up to €10,000 of declared value, and costs 1.6% of the value above that.
- On delivery, check your belongings and write any damage on the consignment note (lettre de voiture) before signing. You then have 10 days to send further reservations by registered letter.
